THE ASSOCIATION  

The Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers’ Association (MARGMA) is the trade association representing rubber / latex glove manufacturers in Malaysia, and other supplier / supporting companies related to the industry, both local and overseas

Established in 1989, the Association has been the voice and advocate for the industry in the country, dealing with government lead agencies and related trade associations in the promotion and protection of the interests of the manufacturers and the industry, as well as those of the supporting industries.

OBJECTIVES
 

  1. To bring about a common understanding amongst all manufacturers
  2. To work to improve and standardize a “Malaysian Rubber Glove”
  3. To represent all members on their interests and grievances
  4. To disseminate the latest information in technological advancements

 

MEMBERSHIP


There are two (2) categories of membership, namely

  1. Ordinary Member (voting) - Open to all bona fide rubber glove manufacturers in Malaysia
  2. Associate Member (non-voting) - Open to all companies directly associated with the glove manufacturing industry

SERVICE AND WORK

The services and work of the Association can be generally categorized as follows:

  1. Advocacy and Voice ( Representation to Government and other bodies)
  2. Industry Development & Enhancement (R & D, Marketing, Automation, etc)
  3. Event Management (Seminars/Lectures/Conferences/Exhibitions)
  4. Publications (Newsletter, Directory, etc) and Resource Center Service
  5. Fellowship and Social Activities

 

CURRENT CONCERNS

The glove industry is highly volatile and full of challenges. Presently, the industry sector is much concerned with the following issues:

  1. Fluctuating Price of Natural Rubber Latex
  2. Protection and Enhancement of NR Latex Gloves
  3. Regulatory Compliance (European regulations, FDA regulations and glove standards, Waste Management)
  4. Industry Needs (Latex Supply, Labour, Energy, etc.)

 

CONTRIBUTIONS

In retrospect, the Association is proud to have made significant and useful contributions to Member Companies and to the glove industry. The notable contributions include:

  1. Launching of the Standard Malaysian Glove Programme (SMG), with MARGMA being the proponent and advocate;
  2. Advocacy and Representation, having voiced the concerns and needs of Member Companies, and represented the industry in various bodies and functions;
  3. MARGMA Newsletter and Membership Directory, with industry updates and listing, both of which are well sought after;
  4. Seminar on Glove Automation, Validation, Design Control, an event the industry always looks forward to;
  5. Regional grouping of Glove Manufacturers, the formation of ARGMA; and
  6. Hosting of International Rubber Glove Conference & Exhibition 2002, 2004 and 2006, an international event that makes MARGMA and Malaysia proud.
